Every minute matters when a mother or newborn needs emergency care. The ability of health workers to respond quickly, confidently and as a coordinated team can make a critical difference in the outcome of an emergency.

African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), in partnership with Technical Advice Connect (TAconnect), has conducted a four-day training on the Qualitative Formative Study for the Enhancing Maternal and Baby Resilience through Access, Care and Equity (EMBRACE) Project from the 22nd to 25th August, 2026 in Gombe State.

As part of ongoing efforts to scale up the implementation of the E-MOTIVE bundle of care for the prevention and management of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) across Nigeria, African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) in Delta State under the Advocacy and Implementation of Maternal, Newborn, Child, Nutrition and Health (AIM MNCNH) Project.

Last month, Prof. Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, Director of ACEPHAP, alongside other leading healthcare professionals, participated in the Pre-eclampsia Summit held in the capital city of Kigali, Rwanda. The Africa Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) participated in E-MASTER Phase I study: Diagnosis of Postpartum Haemorrhage at Caesarean Section – A Multi-country Diagnostic and Prognostic Accuracy Study during the Site Initiation Visit (SIV) training held from 9–11 March 2026 at the Kigali Marriott Hotel, Rwanda.

The African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), in partnership with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON), has successfully trained 30 frontline healthcare workers on Essential Gynaecological Skills (EGS) under the Gynaecological Health Matters Programme (GHMP) – Nigeria.

The African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) conducted a three-day training for data collection research staff from 28th to 30th January 2026, focused on the use of a simplified magnesium sulfate regimen for the prevention of eclampsia.

Last week unfolded not as a routine meeting of institutions, but as a shared moment of purpose, where ideas, experiences, and commitments converged around one urgent goal: saving the lives of women and children.

Sample Registration System (SRS) is one of the most reliable real-time data tools innovated by KASSEP established to generate reliable, community-based mortality and population data so that public policies, interventions and decision making on maternal health are done using accurate data. Following the successful phase of the KASSEP project 1, the team has updated a nutrition component on the SRS to generate more data that will improve the status of children and women’s health in Kano State.
