The African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) has celebrated the dedicated team of professionals who contributed immensely to the success of the IVON PP Trial project. Speaking on behalf of the entire team, Dr. Sule Abdullahi Gaya expressed deep appreciation to all staff members whose commitment, resilience, and teamwork made the trial a remarkable achievement.

The Africa Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) joined partners in celebrating the successful completion of the IVON-PP Trial, a groundbreaking maternal health study supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and a major step forward for women’s health in Nigeria.

The Director of ACEPHAP, Prof. Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, Dr. Jawhara Galadanci, Maryam Zarewa and other medical professionals have recently participated in the XXV FIGO World Congress of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO 2025) in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference took place from October 6th to 9th, 2025.

Africa Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) and Global Surgery Foundation teams have concluded the training of surgical teams for the Making Cesarean Section Safe project in Kano State. The surgical teams trained comprise surgeons, anaesthetic surgeons, nurse anaesthetists, circulating nurses, assistant surgeons, peri-op nurses and midwives.

Kano State Surveillance for Evidence and Policy (KASSEP) has trained Kano South and Central Senatorial Zone Surveillance Supervisors, Scribes and WDC Chairmen at the premises of ACEPHAP from 2nd to 3rd September, 2025.

Kano State Surveillance for Evidence and Policy (KASSEP), a project at ACEPHAP, has conducted a training for Kano North Senatorial Zone Surveillance Supervisors, Scribes and Ward Development (WDC) Chairmen. The session took place on August 28th, 2025, at the premises of ACEPHAP, bringing together participants from the different local government areas in the North Senatorial Zone of the state.

African Centre for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), the Global Surgery Foundation team and the participants of Making Cesarean Section Safe Project have paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, at his palace on 27th August 2025. The visit was to inform the Emir about the project, which was recently launched in the state with a focus to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality associated with cesarean section in 10 project facilities in Kano State.

The African Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) in collaboration with the Global Surgery Foundation based in Geneva, has on 20th April, 2025, officially launched the Safe Cesarean Section Project in Kano State. The aim of the project is to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality associated with Cesarean Section in 10 project facilities in Kano State.
