Inception Meeting: ACEPHAP, Bloomberg and ACEPHAP, Bloomberg, and Gombe State Ministry of Health meet ahead of New Health Project
The Africa Centre for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) today participated in the inception meeting of the Bloomberg Project held in collaboration with the Gombe State Ministry of Health. The high level gathering marked the official launch of the initiative aimed at strengthening health systems and improving public health outcomes across the state. Stakeholders emphasized the importance of coordinated action and evidence driven interventions as the project begins implementation.
Prof. Baba Maiyaki, Deputy director Monitoring and Evaluation at ACEPHAP, Dr. Fatima Muhammad, Muhammad Khalifa and Ahmad Danjuma, represented the center at the gathering. Representatives of Bloomberg, the funding partner, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting strategic health reforms in Gombe State. They highlighted the project’s focus on data driven decision making, improved service delivery, and enhanced accountability within the health sector. Their remarks underscored Bloomberg’s long standing partnership with government agencies in advancing sustainable public health solutions.
The meeting brought together top government officials, including the Honourable Commissioner of Health, the Permanent Secretary, the Special Adviser on Donor and Partners Coordination, Executive Secretaries of both the State Primary Health Care Management Board (SPHCMB) and the Hospital Management Board (HMB), as well as all Directors within the Ministry of Health. Also in attendance were the Member of the House of Representatives for Dukku LGA and the Representative of the Appropriation Committee on Health, both of whom expressed legislative support for the initiative.
Development partners Taconnect, WHO, CHAI, and JHPIEGO joined ACEPHAP in committing to collaborative engagement throughout the project cycle. Participants agreed on the need for synergy among stakeholders to ensure efficient resource utilization and improved health outcomes for the people of Gombe State. The inception meeting concluded with a shared resolve to drive impactful, measurable, and inclusive health sector improvements under the Bloomberg Project.
