ACEPHAP and Every Pregnancy meet with partners to explore role of Islamic philanthropy in scaling solutions for mothers and newborns’ health

ACEPHAP and Every Pregnancy convened Muslim-led community organizations on 17th November 2025 to discuss how Islamic philanthropy can support maternal and newborn health in Kano. Led by Prof. Hadiza Galadanci and Marleen Vellekoop, the meeting explored leveraging Waqf and other faith-based giving to sustainably fund essential maternal and newborn interventions. The partners expressed strong interest in a joint campaign aimed at making pregnancy safer, especially as Nigeria accounts for a significant share of global maternal deaths. Organizations such as FOMWAN, Alkhairat Waqf Foundation, Dawakin Kudu Waqf Foundation, and Pathfinder International participated, with a shared commitment to expanding and sustaining support for mothers and newborns.
