Strengthening Capacity: ACEPHAP Partners with Boston Children’s Hospital for Simulation Training
The African Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital is currently holding an intensive simulation training program aimed at strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals.
This hands-on training focuses on enhancing clinical competencies among medical residents by exposing them to life-like obstetric scenarios. The collaboration is designed to equip participants with practical skills to manage maternal health cases effectively, improve clinical decision-making, and promote evidence-based practices in obstetrics care, neonatal resuscitation, e. t. c.
Through realistic simulations, the program allows healthcare providers to practice emergency responses in a safe, controlled environment. Participants are taken through critical obstetric situations such as postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia management, and safe delivery protocols.
This innovative training approach not only boosts technical skills but also fosters teamwork, communication, and confidence among medical practitioners, ensuring they are better prepared to handle real-life situations in healthcare facilities.
By introducing advanced simulation-based learning methods, the program contributes to building a more resilient healthcare workforce capable of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates. The training is a significant step towards bridging knowledge gaps and promoting sustainable healthcare improvements in the region.
